Come and Watch the Pretty Lights! (Media Meditation # 3)

If your'e into electronic music you should check out Pretty Lights . Derek Vincent Smith, originally from Colorado, knows how to produce beats appropriate for almost every occasion. Some of his songs are upbeat and hyphie like, Hot Like Sauce, while others are appropriate for mellow moods, like Cold Feeling. Pretty Lights coined their name from a Pink Floyd concert poster, that read " Come and watch the pretty lights!"

The best thing about the Pretty Lights website is the accessibility of their music. They make it super easy to download most of their music and remixes for free. Im not sure how this works when you consider ownership principles, but its awesome. The only thing they ask for is your E-mail. They do this as a bribe of sorts. You get on the mailing list, you get free music.

CONVERGENCE! - We can download FREE music using our personal computers, through the internet, from their website. You can also take the more time consuming route, YouTube their songs, copy the URL and then use video2mp3, to convert the file.

Beautiful people - Attractive Yogis on the front page.

Technological shift - They now have a website you can access the same information on as you can in the magazine. As well as Yoga Journal Blogs.

Personal Shift - The website helps to bring people together and blog about their experiences while also sharing thoughts, techniques, and revelations.

Aesthetic shift - Convergence, we went from magazine to website, while looking at it all on a class computer, through a projector.

Discursive shift - They have a blogosphere connected to the website, where yogis can share their ideas.

The value messages in Yoga Journal are geared towards a specific group of people. Those who practice yoga. The majority of these people are concerned with health and spirituality so their articles are mostly on Eating right Wisdom and Practice.

Thats what she did...

Recently I saw a band called Big Gigantic at Higher Ground.
One of the highlights of this band is a saxophone player named Dominic Lalli. Big Gigantic combines elements of DJ and live band with dope saxophone solos. Out of the 3 shows I have seen this month Big Gigantic was by far the best. Their collaboration of musical styles makes them unique.

They closed the show with I cant stop by Flux Pavilion. All night I had been trying to find my friend John. He finally found me in the crowd during this song and we raged.
